Malawi is amazing! The impacts of the ministry I have seen have been awesome! There has been astonishing miracles, a mind-blowing vision of what my future holds, and uncontainable love, and it has only been a little over a month!
The love that I have for doing what the Lord has called me to do grows exponentially every day. Witnessing people’s realization that they have a greater purpose, through the Cross and accepting Christ as their Savior, gives a whole new meaning to life. Without God, we will always crave more, feel incomplete, and be searching for something better. Delivering hope, love, and grace to people through God’s Word is the greatest joy I have ever experienced. I have found my passion!
For “Everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet messengers who bring Good News!”
On September 16th a team of the DTS students and staff used the truck to present the Word to a crowd of locals. I knew the Spirit would be moving in a remarkable way that Friday night, as we were evangelizing and showing the “Jesus Movie” to a local village, but nothing could have prepared me for the astonishing things that were to come. Almost all of YWAM evangelise to masses of people via the “Jesus Film,” a movie depicting the life of Christ. YWAM Blantyre takes advantage of this film, translated into the native tongue of Chichewa, with a large truck equipped with a fold-out stage and projector screen.
While peacefully watching the film, about three-quarters through the movie, a shriek and commotion sharply erupted from the crowd to my right. A snake. Janine and I immediately started praying, we both knew this was an attack from the enemy. I also got a Word that it was in fact an assault to distract from the message being presented. Praying in intercession for the situation, I Prayed, “Father, I command in Jesus name that the enemy causing this distraction would be cast out and their plan would be ineffective. I ask that the people would not be distracted by the outbreak and stay focused on Your word. I also command the angels of heaven to come down and protect this group from any other attacks of the enemy.” Sure enough, we didn’t see the snake, or any other distractions, again.
After the film came to a conclusion, we gave a very short sermon and an opportunity for the people to surrender their lives to Christ and submit to His will for their lives. Almost the entire crowd dedicated their lives, at least 75 men, women, and children! Once they made the decision to give their lives to Christ, we opened up time to pray for healing. The team broke into groups of threes to pray for the sick and injured. There were so many miracles that night if I were to write all of them in this update letter it might be three times as long. I personally witnessed five of those unbelievable healings! One man we prayed for came to us with a massive knot on his left shoulder-blade and could barely move his shoulder from excruciating pain. I laid my hand on his shoulder blade where the knot resided, it was physically protruding from his shoulder though his shirt, and we began to pray. Once finished asking the Lord to heal this man, we questioned the man intently to see if he had any pain or how the range of motion was in his shoulder. We all were dumbfounded when he fully raised his arm and had the restored ability to rotate his joint. Praising God for this manifestation of His power, the man went up on stage to proclaim in front of the crowd that Jesus had just healed him.
Another amazing time the Holy Spirit really showed off was a community night at the YWAM base. Wednesday, October 5th the base had an evening of worship, praise, and prayer, with the purpose of spending time with God. At first it was just singing, then I got Word that there were a few in need of love, the kind of love only He could bring. So I testified of this Word and asked for all who needed or wanted prayer over love, over a broken heart, rejection, or just a void where only God’s love could fill, would come to the middle and the others could pray over them. 6-8 people responded. Throughout the night I kept getting Word about different people who needed prayers over specific things. After many, I was led to Micah. At first he said nothing was wrong, then he confessed that he was having stomach pains and that was the reason he was sitting down. I prayed for healing and listened to the Spirit for Words of knowledge over the situation and commanded the pain to leave his body; also that it is not I who heals, but the manifestation of the Holy Spirit that does the healing. I proceeded to ask “how are you feeling?” I have never seen a man so awestruck and unexpectedly excited; he was completely painless. He jumped up and testified to everyone that God had healed him. Then Catherine came over and asked for me to pray for Yonko, who was bent over her chair crying in pain in her abdominal area. I laid my hand on her back and prayed, and wanting just for her to stand up so I may lay hands on her stomach to continue praying, she sat up and jumped for joy that there was no pain! Praise God for His goodness and love!
Just A Few Things I Love About Malawi
- The culture is very community-oriented and SO friendly. During the Great Depression in America 30% of people in the major metropolitan areas were unemployed and there were riots and people starving. It is said that if in Malawi 60 % of the entire country were unemployed, every stomach in the country would be filled, due to their generosity.
- The chips, (French fries in the USA,) are addicting! I definitely have to practice self-control when it comes to chips. At almost all the markets in Malawi, there are street vendors who peel, cut, and fry the potatoes right in front of you.
- Malawi is in the top 10 most peaceful countries in Africa and really is “The Warm Heart of Africa.”
- Scenery is awe-inspiring, from the regal mountains to the stunning crystal clear waters of the Caribbean-like, Lake Malawi.
Two weeks after I arrived in Malawi, I started fasting– anxious to see what God was planning next for me. Fasting and praying gave me more intimate time with the Lord for focus on what He wanted. Using this time for receiving His vision for me, I found what I was searching for; a plan. Through much prayer and many confirmations from the Lord, I am to be attending the School of Navigation (SON) at YWAM Kona. YWAM Kona is one of YWAM’s largest ministry training bases, and also a University of the Nations school. The SON course is three months of training to become a Godly and qualified seaman equipped for life in missions.
Pacific islands such as Papua New Guinea, Micronesia and other southern Asian islands are some of the most Bible deprived places in the world. Every time in history that the Bible was made available to the people of the islands, major revival was close to follow. YWAM Ships are on a mission to end Bible poverty in these countries. They also provide free medical and dental care to the otherwise, unreachable. Our ships are outfitted with surgical facilities, doctors, evangelists, and water purification engineers.
Upon completion of the three-month course, there is an optional nine-month sea time opportunity. Sea time allows the opportunity to serve on board one of the YWAM Ships as a crew member to Papua New Guinea, Panama or Mexico.
Money merely enables you to go around or over the mountains, prayer and faith enables you to move the mountains out of your way completely.

Just a warning, I don’t think his plans for me to be in the mission field are going to end anytime soon! I was praying in intercession in the house of prayer at the base and asked the Lord for guidance on what to pray for. As a result, I saw a flat map over the entire world. I was viewing the map close up so I could only see certain regions at a time, and the view was panning slowly and steadily over different areas. While it panned over nearly the entire planet in a strange path, I prayed over the countries I felt were being highlighted. Later I received word that the prayers I was praying are paving the way for me to go into those countries. Now I am still praying over that Word and asking for further clarification, but if that’s true, I still have over 15 countries to visit for the Lord!
The location for outreach, from November till January, for my team of eight, is Tanzania! During the two months of outreach, one month will be spent in Malawi, at the three YWAM outreach bases, and the other month in Tanzania. I am excited to see what the Lord has in store for us in these next two months!
While in meditating with God one day, I asked him for a prayer that would be good for me to pray daily. This was the result of that request:
You are the Creator of all, the Hope and Redeemer, the One who holds my heart. You formed me before time, with your great purpose in store. Help me not to limit Your glory by dreaming small. Give me greater prayers to pray, that Your Kingdom may come and only Your will be done here on earth just as You have it in heaven. Continue to stretch me and teach me Your ways so that I may be more like You, that people may not see me, but You through me. Forgive me for all that I have fallen short, and all of Your commands I have ignored. Let me follow in Your footsteps and give me a forgiving heart for others. Teach me to forgive all that they may have done against me, for they know not what they do. Help me to continue to do only Your will and not be tempted to betray or work against You, and help me to cast out the evil one every time he shows his face. You are the Father, the Creator, the Alpha and Omega till the end of eternity and beyond. Teach me to worship You through all, in sickness or in health, for richer or for poorer, until death brings me home, let me never turn my eyes from You.
Give me the joy of Your heart and Your eyes to see the need in the world. Let me not limit Your amazing power and strength by my feeble human dreams, but that You will give me the great dreams that are on Your heart. Wake me up if my dreams have come true because I have dreamed too little, when I arrived safely because I sailed too close to the shore. Open my ears to hear Your loving and caring voice, give me discernment to know Your voice so I will do Your will, without doubt. Your plan for me is great and I declare Your plan to be fulfilled in my life, that no scheme of man and no power of hell will ever pluck me from Your hands! I will do amazing things for Your kingdom and will follow You all the days of my life. Guide and strengthen me to do Your good work without fear. Greater is You who lives in me, than the evil one in the world. You are, and will be my one and only, my all in all, my strength and the one I adore. Continue to draw me closer to You, if my earthly desires distract me from Your presence, take it from me. Teach me more ways to love You, open the eyes of my heart to Your unfailing love. Help me to keep my eyes on You and help me to keep all faith in You and You only. I bind the enemy from my life and again dedicate this day to You and You alone. I put on the entire armor of God to protect me from the attacks of the enemy. In the face of the enemy, give me the prayers to pray to destroy their evil plans. You are my Protector, Provider and Hope and I will not let my eyes turn from you.
You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand! I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you.
The first congregation I had the privilege of teaching about the Fathers love.
We had a guys only weekend to talk about guy stuff and do manly things like; burning stuff, eat meat, and clearly, act like no girls are around!
